Hooray! The time has finally come - we are learning cursive!!! Today we practiced perfect pencil grips and posture. It's so important that writers are sitting up straight, feet flat on the floor, and a properly-sized desk.
We all sat at our desks with our best posture and then our desks were lowered so we would have proper posture. We know that proper posture means better handwriting endurance and quality.
I hope everyone had a chance to read the cursive letter in your child's backpack. It will let you know details on our handwriting program as well as cursive in our classroom.
This type of posting ("A Cursive Update") will typically be once a week. I know, however, that the kids will be excited to practice at home with each new letter this week so please keep checking in as I'll be posting the letters on the day that we learn them for a week or so! These posts will have the proper letter formation as well as the language that we will use in the classroom to help children form the letters.
We've only practiced swirling our pencil and learned one letter so far, but the letter we learned is so important because it helps us write many different cursive letters (as you'll see as the week continues). Try using the language written below to help your child remember how to form each letter! :)
So, without further ado, the most magical cursive letter... c !!!
