Moon Unit

We have been studying the Earth, Moon, and Sun! Lately, we've been focusing a lot on the moon and its eight phases. Every night, we've had a Moon Watcher observe the night sky, record the moon phase, and report out the next day. We learned a lot about the length of each phase and how the moon slowly changes. We also learned about the names of the phases and what each phase looks like. Please ask your scientist for more details!

During our Valentine's Day Party, some of these highly creative scientists were inspired by the oreos. They began to make moon phases by eating parts of the oreos! What an amazing bunch of thinkers!

Research Using Laptops

We used laptops on Friday to explore Pebble Go! We took notes on the moon and its phases. Then we got to free explore! Lots of researchers took notes on their free explore topics. It was neat seeing what interested them (biographies, holidays, animals, habitats, cells, planets, and more!)

Using Pebble Go helped us learn about the moon, take notes, and navigate technology. We can play and pause audio recordings, click links to view maps, play and pause videos, change the volume of our laptops, enlarge screens, scroll, shut down our laptops, and more!

Ask your child for more information about what they researched and what they learned!

Oceania Week!

We have been busy learning about Oceania!

Jason Chin visited and talked about his process of writing and illustrating books like Coral Reef

We read lots of books set in Australia! Then we used what we read to inspire some artwork.

Teresa Davis visited our class to teach us about food, history, language, animals, and more!
The All School Share was fun! We got to wear the masks we made in Art, the fourth graders did a great job doing the Haka, we listened to a didgeridoo performer, and we all had a great time dancing to "Waltzing Matilda!"

Our Last Day with Dana

We have been on such an amazing journey learning about dairy and farms with Dana! On her last visit, she helped Mrs. Mandigo's class and our class make ice cream! Ask your child about how we made this delicious dairy treat!
