We had so much fun at the apple orchard yesterday! We used a lot of observation skills as we picked and tasted apples, went on a scavenger hunt, and took a walk through the woods. Ask your scientist what his/her favorite part of our day was!

Monarch Caterpillars
Have you heard the news? We have some new visitors in our classroom! We've been learning about the life cycle of a Monarch Caterpillar and have been practicing our observation skills. Every week we're writing about the changes we've noticed. Ask your scientist for more details about our crawly friends!
Fish-Themed Celebration
Yay! We filled the giant fish bowl in the office and had a fish-themed celebration today! We had Goldfish snacks, read Rainbow Fish and Only One You, and watercolored fish headbands!

Our First Two Weeks at School
What a great start to the year! We've been learning and exploring a lot together! Take a look at some pictures from our first two weeks with your first grader. Remember to ask them for details! :)
Exploring new materials together - We shared about how we might use them, how we could take care of them, and then we explored together!
Math Stations - Learning how to share and use materials, focus on work, choosing a station, following directions/asking for help, and practicing some math skills!
Handwriting - Trying out some "pencil pick ups" to build our hand strength! We're learning and practicing capital letters, lower case letters, and numbers.
Opening Up New Spaces - We opened up a section of our book nook! We enjoyed time looking at books on our own and with friends, talking about how to take care of the books, and sharing about the different books we looked at.
