And Now, The Moment You've All Been Waiting For...

So many students have been inspired by learning about the moon, earth, and sun. They were drawing, making posters, writing poems, and singing songs. It was clear. They wanted to create something special..so they did!

For the past few weeks, these scientists have been using what they know about Earth and Sky to teach each other about 4 phases of the moon. Their only directions were that everyone had to have a part and they had to teach about four phases of the moon.

After working together, learning about team work, and lots of reflection and practice, the teams have created outstanding representations of their learning and talents. Let me just stress the fact that all ideas (down to writing scripts, project ideas, and drawing settings on the white board) were totally planned by our second graders.

Please enjoy these videos! (and get your autograph books ready...)

Please ask your child: what questions or compliments did s/he hear from classmates after their performance, what was the hardest thing about her/his projects, what was the best thing about the team's work, how did you create your project, .... etc!

Valentine's Day Party!

Valentine's Day PartyYZ

Our class will be having a Valentine’s Day celebration on Thursday, February 14th! Please make sure your child prepares valentines for all of his/her classmates. We will be exchanging them at our party!

Giving out valentines is already super sweet, but I know many people like to add something extra to their valentines. If your child wants to give something more, s/he can share something non-food related (no candy). Ideas include: pencils, erasers, stickers, bookmarks, etc. The internet also has tons of ideas for candy-free valentines! Here's one website with a lot of super cute ideas: 29 Candy Free Valentine Ideas Great for Class Gifts!

Thanks,
Miss Snyder

100th Day of School

Happy 100th Day of School! We had a lot of fun learning with a theme of "one-hundred." Here's a glimpse of some of our one-hundredful activities...ASK your child what's happening in each picture. (Click the picture to make it bigger!)

To the Moon!

We learned about the moon by reading a lot of books, looking online, trying some activities, and asking questions. Then we worked with our teams again and agreed on a fact to write and illustrate about the moon.

All of our posters are finished and displayed!!! Check out how great they look altogether.
